RapidChek™ Total Protein – Rapid / Sensitive Protein Swab

RapidChek™ Total Protein is a colourmetric assay used to verify that cleaning procedures of surfaces in the food production area have been adequate. Residual protein remaining on surfaces after cleaning can pose food safety issues such as cross contamination of allergens and the formation of biofilms harbouring microorganisms.

The test with a 30 second time to result enables quality assurance personnel to make on the go decisions regarding the cleaning procedures. With no additional equipment required, aside from the device to apply deionised water, RapidChek Total Protein is a user-friendly economical quality tool.

The method is based on chemical reactions that occur in the presence on amino acids, peptides and proteins. When proteins are present on the sampled surface and brought into contact with the reagent on the test strip, a visually noticeable change of colour from yellow to blue will occur. The limit of detection (LOD) is 3µg for total protein (Bovine serum albumin as control). The LOD limit can vary depending on the source of the protein.
