NDSS Blood Glucose Strips Review Press Release

Inclusion of OneTouch Verio Blood Glucose Test Strips on the new National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) Product Schedule

Sydney, Australia, November 2018 –

The Australian Government recently undertook a review of certain products on the NDSS Product Schedule, with the objective of achieving improved clinical outcomes and efficiencies for people with diabetes in the self-management of their condition.

Product categories that were the subject to review included:

  • Blood glucose test strips (BGTS);
  • Syringes; and
  • Urinary ketone test strips

The AMSL Diabetes team are excited to announce the inclusion of the OneTouch Verio Blood Glucose Test Strips on the new NDSS Product Schedule that takes effect from 1 December 2018. In addition, people with diabetes will still be able to access OneTouch Blood Glucose Meters.

AMSL Diabetes acknowledges the efforts of the Government and are committed to the sustainable access of diabetes related products for people with diabetes.

How does this affect customers

For eligible registrants on the NDSS, the OneTouch Verio Blood Glucose Test Strips will continue to be available at a subsidised rate through the usual supply pathways.

The OneTouch Verio Blood Glucose Test Strips are compatible with the OneTouch Verio IQ and Verio Flex Blood Glucose Meters, which will be supplied Free of Charge to eligible registrants.
