Now AOAC Approved, CompactDry Total Count Rapid is primed to streamline HACCP Compliance for local producers
Posted Mar 6, 2023.
AMSL Scientific today unveils AOAC approval for CompactDry Total Count Rapid (TCR), validated for 11 matrices including 3 dairy matrices.
What is CompactDry TCR?
CompactDry TCR are ready-to-use dry media sheets using chromogenic medium to detect and quantify the total bacteria concentration in food after a 24-hour incubation period.
- Small , compact plates easily stack in incubator
- Ready to use with automatic diffusion. Spreaders not required
- Easy to long shelf life at room temperature (1 - 30°C)
- Count available 24 - 48 hours of incubation
- Clear colour development makes colonies stand out
- Good correlation with the conventional method (Plate Count agar after 48 hours)
In the old days, it used to take the better part of a week to evaluate the effectiveness of your HACCP plan. ''says Andrew Odd, Division Manager for AMSL Scientific. ''With newer tech on the market, you can get Total Count results within 24hrs.''
Total count is the most common test in microbiology. It quantifies the total amount of colonies in a sample, to determine if contamination has occurred or if the total plate count is in the acceptable range. Contamination can originate from surfaces, equipment, raw materials, and therefore makes its way into the final product. Hence, taking samples from multiple locations can help quality assurance managers investigate the point of contamination and determine if the total count is in the acceptable range.
''It gives my team greater confidence to recommend CompactDry TCR to customers. Even visually, the results at 24hrs of the Rapid version compared to the standard are starkly different'' - Andrew Odd
