Posted Mar 2, 2020.
From the 1st
of March, 2020, the Australian Government is simplifying the clinical
eligibility criteria for the Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Initiative.
This will allow people with type 1 diabetes under the age of 21, and those over
the age of 21 who have valid concessional status to access fully subsidised CGM
devices through the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS).
Both Dexcom G5 Mobile
and Dexcom G4 PLATINUM Systems are available to eligible
patients who meet the new eligibility criteria for one of the following groups:
· Children and young
people under 21 years with type 1 diabetes
· People with type 1
diabetes aged 21 years or older who have valid concessional status
· Children and young
people under 21 years with conditions very similar to type 1 diabetes who require
insulin, such as cystic fibrosis-related diabetes and neonatal diabetes.
